Exam Information
- If you are a member of
PMI the exam costs $405 for the first sitting.
- If you are not a member
of PMI the exam costs $555 for the first
sitting.
- If you have to take the
exam over because you failed on your first
attempt, the cost for a PMI member is $275. For
a non-member to retake the exam, the cost is
$375.
- It costs $119 annually
to join PMI. Yes, it costs more to not be a
member of PMI and take the exam than to join PMI
and take the exam.
- You'll qualify to sit
for the exam by one of two methods:
You hold at least a
four-year degree
You have 4,500 hours of project management
experience over three years time within the
last six years.
You must have 35 contact hours of project
management training.
or
You have at least a
high school degree or its equivalent.
You have at least 7,500 hours of project
management experience over five years time
within the last eight years.
You must have 35 contact hours of project
management training.
-There are 200 hundred
questions on the PMP exam. The breakdown of the
topic areas are:
Project Initiation -
8.5%
Project Planning - 23.5%
Project Execution - 23.5%
Project Control - 23%
Project Closing - 7%
Professional Responsibility - 14.5%
- Your must score a 68.5%
or better. This equates to correctly answering
137 questions out of the 200.
- You have four hours to
complete the exam.
